Dance Is How We Say What Words Can't

We started as two people meeting in a borrowed studio. Today we're one of Accra's most active kizomba communities and the mission hasn't changed: make this dance feel like home to everyone who walks through our doors.

Kizomba was born from connection, a close embrace, a shared breath, a conversation without words. That's the spirit we've built our school around. We're not here to churn out routines; we're here to teach you how to listen to a partner, to music, and to yourself. Every class, social, and event we run is designed around one idea: that the dance floor should feel safer, warmer, and more alive than the world outside it. Whether you're here to learn your first step or you've been dancing for years, you'll find a community that meets you exactly where you are.

Community First

We believe that in a world where work, responsibilities and everyday pressures can easily consume our time, we all need spaces where we can pause, breathe, connect and simply enjoy being present. For us, dance is one of those spaces.

Instructors Who Care

Every instructor on our team trains continuously and teaches with patience. We track your progress personally, you're never just a face in the crowd.

AKC Why Us Img
300+ Enthusiasts Trained

Our Mission

To make kizomba accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or background by teaching real connection and musicality, not just choreography, in a welcoming, judgment-free space. And especially a healthy lifestyle.

Our Vision

To grow Accra into a recognized home for kizomba in West Africa, where dancers of every level can train, perform, and connect with the wider global kizomba community.

2016

Founded in a borrowed studio by two people with nothing but a love for the dance. The first seed of what would become one of Accra's most active kizomba communities.

2017

Our weekly socials became a fixture on Accra's calendar, drawing dancers back week after week and turning a small gathering into a growing family.

2024

Named Ghana's Best Kizomba Community, recognition for years of dedication, and a milestone that affirmed everything we'd built together.

2026

Ten years deep in Accra's kizomba scene. A decade of dance floors, friendships, and a community that keeps growing stronger.

Guiding Principles

01

Connection First

We teach the embrace and the listening before the steps because kizomba is a conversation, not a routine.

02

Community Over Competition

Every class and social is built to make you feel welcomed, not judged, dancers grow faster in a room that supports them.

03

Musicality Matters

We train your ear as much as your feet, so your dancing responds to the music, not just a memorized pattern.

04

Rooted, Not Diluted

We stay true to kizomba's Angolan roots while embracing the styles it has grown into, so you learn the real dance, not a trend.

Accra Kizomba is an incredible place to learn and grow as a dancer! As someone who was nervous about starting, I was amazed at how welcoming and supportive the environment is. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and so skilled at breaking down the steps. The 'Walk/Dance in Heels' class was a game-changer for me, it boosted my confidence and completely transformed the way I carry myself. I’ve found a wonderful community here and can’t recommend it enough!

I’ve always loved dancing and wanted a new hobby, so when I was introduced to Kizomba, I never looked back. With Teacher Kojo of AKC providing solid basics and foundation, I’ve found Kizomba to be my safe haven, a perfect way to relieve stress and stay fit. AKC offers a supportive, energetic community, and everyone I’ve introduced to Kizomba has loved it. These days, my favorite is the line dances, they’re a fun cardio workout!

As someone who’s danced for years, I was blown away by Headon's creativity and technique. He pushes you out of your comfort zone in the best way. The musicality, the storytelling, and the attention to detail, it’s next level. He is one of the most talented instructors I’ve had the pleasure to dance with.

I took Hedon's Kizomba class last summer, and I genuinely loved it. From the very first class, I really enjoyed the music and the beautiful style of Kizomba. What I appreciated most was that it wasn't just about learning the steps, it was about learning how to dance to the music and really feel it. I also loved that we learned a full routine, which was such a fun achievement and made the experience even more enjoyable. The classes really helped to build my confidence, and I never felt self-conscious, which is something I sometimes worry about when learning with a new teacher. Hedon was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and a real joy to dance with, creating a relaxed atmosphere where everyone could enjoy themselves and learn at their own pace. I would happily recommend Hedon's classes to anyone thinking about learning Kizomba, whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience. It was a fantastic experience, and I'm so glad I gave it a try.

I had to write a post about Hedon, a teacher from Ghana, visiting London and teaching a few classes! He was the most amazing teacher, he really broke down leading and following techniques! Then after the class danced with all of us ladies! Look at the smiles on our faces! He made all us ladies feel special, he made us all look good, even the 2 new ladies who joined a Kizomba class for the first time! Look out for him this weekend ladies he’ll be out dancing! 💃🏻💃🏻 Thank you Jackie for bringing him to share his knowledge with us and to give us a flavour of dancers in Ghana!

I have had the pleasure of being taught Kizomba by Heddon on a couple of occasions. He was a very good teacher. Explained the moves well and broke them down really well. He also makes you feel like you can do it ,is very encouraging and kind. His lessons are fun and enjoyable. On another note. When I had the pleasure to dance with him I felt like a professional even though I was just a beginner.

I attended Hedon's classes in both London and Ghana, and his teaching style is truly unique. Every class was engaging, enjoyable, and delivered in a way that made learning both effective and fun. I gained valuable skills that I continue to apply in my dancing today. I would highly recommend Hedon as an instructor to anyone looking to develop their dance ability.

I first met Hedon in Benin at The West African Kizomba Festival in 2024. Hedon was representing The Kizomba community in Accra, Ghana. We had some really good dances. He was an exceptional leader and executed the moves well. Dancing with Hedon makes you feel special. He pays attention to detail and the leads are clear. I visited Ghana later that year and was particularly excited to attend Hedon's Kizomba event. I really enjoyed his lessons and particularly admired the knowledge and etiquette he passes on to his students. I had the most amazing time! Now i regularly travel yo Ghana and attending his events have become a highlight not to be missed. I have seen the impact everywhere he teaches and dances the happiness he brings to followers!

I can testify that Hedon is a professional, dedicated, understanding, caring teacher, who ensures his students have a wonderful experience while dancing with him and while attending his school in Ghana. He makes your dance experience truly magical... His dance school is also amazing, along with his team.

I was lucky enough to have taken some of Hedon’s classes when he was last over. I have to say, as a not too confident kizomba-learner, that it was quite the eye-opening experience. Most instructors I’ve had teach manoeuvres and routines by rote, so you’re dancing from memory most times. Hedon brought a completely different philosophy, and it really worked for me (at last!). He taught MUSICALITY – the ability to not just hear the music, but feel it, and successfully interpret it in your own unique way, sympathetic to your partner. Again, this novel approach really worked. Sounds very “esoteric” I know, but you try it and you’ll see exactly what I mean. If the brother could get me looking half decent on an unscripted kizomba dance floor, he can effectively work his magic on almost anybody! But don’t just take my word for it… Experience it for yourself!!

To whom it may concern: As a seasoned Kizomba dancer I have had lessons with Hedon and he brings a different and unique interpretation of Kizomba dancing. He emphasis connection not only to your partner but to blend that connection into the interpretation of the actual song/ music you are dancing to! A wonderful, patient and sympathetic teacher of the genre. Would recommend him as a teacher to anyone looking to invoke real meaning and sophistication to their Kizomba dancing.

For me, Hedon's dancing is completely organic and natural. He builds a real connection with his students, keeping his instructions clear and remaining highly aware of the proficiency level within the group. Nobody leaves his classes without taking away something they can use immediately. Because it’s so enjoyable, you’ll be surprised by just how much you have absorbed!
